Independent reading

Reading the later-year terms

An agreed adjustment is different from an unexplained change.

Return to the original summary

Find the date and wording of a scheduled change and any later renewal. Distinguish an airtime adjustment from a device repayment or an introductory period ending. Keep the provider’s notice alongside the agreement.

Understand the rule change

New contracts from 17 January 2025 cannot include inflation-linked or percentage-based rises. Providers must set out scheduled increases in pounds and pence and make the timing clear upfront. This is a transparency rule, not a ban on every increase.

Check the individual situation

Older contracts and new renewals may be governed by different wording. If a change was not specified or exceeds the agreed adjustment, ask about the notice and available exit rights. Our general reading cannot determine the outcome of an account dispute.
