The digital identity on your phone

What an eSIM changes—and what it leaves unchanged.

The profile and the agreement

An eSIM stores a mobile subscription profile digitally. It does not by itself shorten a minimum term, expand roaming or alter the allowance. Account eligibility and the exact handset still determine whether a provider’s digital route is available.

Prepare for the download

Arrange internet access, official account access and a recovery method. Use only activation information issued directly by the network. A QR code can control a line, so it should be protected like a password rather than posted in a support discussion.

Prepare for a new handset

A backup restoration does not necessarily restore the mobile profile. Some changes use an approved device transfer; others need a replacement profile. Before erasing an old phone, check the provider’s sequence and how authentication will work. Deleting a profile does not close the subscription.
